My Story
I’ve been interested in eating healthy and working out for as long as I can remember. Growing up in the 70’s, being “skinny” was the only thing that really mattered to me. I painstakingly watched my calories-in and calories-out and compared myself to other girls until I ended up with an eating disorder. As life kept moving - college, marriage, kids - some of that food chatter got left behind. But I still wasn’t satisfied with my body. I worked out tirelessly and tried every fad in the book to try and control my weight. And it worked… for a while. Then I turned 50 and my old rule book wasn’t working anymore. I told my doctor about my weight gain and they said, “Welcome to Menopause!” to which I replied, “Nope, that’s not going to work for me.” And that’s really where this story starts.
I learned how food can nourish my body, not ruin it. I found habits I could stick to not just at home, but anywhere I went. I started working out for strength, not skinny. And for the first time in my life, I’m so happy with the person I see in the mirror.
